For Immediate Release Celebrities, Athletes, City Officials, Spectators and Kids Join Together to Raise over $500,000 for The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Malibu, California – This morning, thousands gathered on Zuma Beach to watch celebrities, pro-athletes, weekend warriors and “first-timers” compete in a ½ mile ocean swim, 18-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run, to help raise money for sick kids. Competition was fierce but Derek Kite and Jessi Stensland showed excellent form to win the overall elite men’s and elite women’s divisions, respectively. Felicity Huffman almost managed to win an Emmy and a triathlon title in the same week – she helped her “Desperate Housewives” relay team place second in the celebrity relay division. Nautica Malibu Triathlon veteran, Tate Donovan, won the individual celebrity title for the third year running. Other notable performances were seen from Estella Warren, in her inaugural triathlon, who won the women’s individual celebrity title and Mark Paul Gosselaar’s NYPD Blue team who won the male celebrity relay award. The event saw Hollywood’s finest standing shoulder to shoulder with pro-athletes and first-time triathletes. Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, David Duchovny, John Cryer and Mark Paul Gosselaar all competed in this year’s Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Personal achievements aside, every competitor raced with a common goal - to raise money for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The Nautica Malibu Triathlon has surpassed their goal of raising one million dollars for EGPAF and raised more money in 2005 than in any other year.
